People who give knowledge about anything are called teachers. People who teach students about specific subject in a school, college or university are formal teachers but there are some other people like our parents who give us knowledge about ethics of life are also our teachers. Both of them have their own importance.
Some people think that they do not need any teacher and they can learn better by themselves while others believe that they need a teacher to learn anything. According to my opinion, it is not just important to have a teacher but it is necessary to learn from a teacher.
First, If we consider formal education , teachers at school, college or university are experienced and erudite in their specific subjects. Although there are many books available for students on each subject, but in those books there are many things which are not clear. In this case, students must need to consult a teacher.
In addition, knowledge which students gain by themselves from other sources like books, internet etc, is either incomplete or sometimes unauthentic. As most of the material available on internet is not authentic because there is no check on posting any kind of material on some websites. Without consulting a teacher, students will make wrong concepts about their subjects.
And now consider informal education, it includes different social and moral values which are very important for a person to live a successful life. Our parents have most important role in teaching them. People who are brought up by kind and co-operative parents are more cultured, successful and happy as compared to those who do not have parents. So, in order to be a good person it is very necessary to learn many ethics from informal teachers i.e our parents, seniors or elders.
To sum up, it is necessary to learn from a teacher whether it is formal or informal education because knowledge gained without teacher is either incomplete or wrong.
