I believe films and computer games which contain violence do not have a negative effect on society and they should not be banned because although movies do show tips and tricks related to violence but most of the people watch it for entertainment purposes and the terrorist and criminals are not found to be watching such violent movies or playing games that caused them to do such activities.
As far as teenager and adult males are concerned, violent video games and movies are quite popular in these days. Number of movies are allocated R category due to explicit violence that is in terms of bloodshed, weapons and drugs. Many college students try out drugs while they are getting their education just to look cool and end up doing violence. For example, many western movies show alcohol and drugs which cause students to try such things with their friends. This results in teenagers becoming addict for life or even involved in criminal activities, such as stealing and fighting.
Conversely, most of the teenagers and students watch violent movies and play such video games just for recreational purposes as they understand good moral behavior due to their upbringing and education. According to a research by National College of Arts, teenagers who watched violent movies were more socially responsible as compared to those who do not know much about it.
Also, criminals and terrorist are not found to be watching violent movies or playing violent games that provoke them to do such untoward activities; but, it is the poverty or lack of entertainment facilities that forced them to become unethical citizens. For example, a survey in national prison of Punjab it was found, 80% of criminals did not even had access to entertainment while they were children.
Thus, I believe films and computer games which contain violence do not have negative effect on society and they should not be banned.
