Today overcrowding in metropolitan cities has become major issue of concern for governments across the world. Many studies are undergoing to find possible solutions to this problem. Some people think that ,preventing migration could be the only solution. But in my point of view,it is not an ultimate answer to the growing encroachment.
Before searching for possible solutions,we need to understand it’s causes.According to me one of the cause is,more opportunities available in cities as compared to rural areas. In rural area, sources of income are less. Most of the people draw their living from agriculture and it’s related industries which are largely depend upon environmental conditions. This forces these people to migrate to cities in search of work so that they can financially support thier large family back home. Besides that lack of basic facilities such as specific medical treatment, institutes for higher education also draws them towards cities which have better infrastructure and international facilities.
All these need to be considered while solving the problem of overpopulation in the cities.Government have to plan and effectively implement programmes to provide alternative vocational options for it’s rural citizens so they need not have to move out just for earning their bread and butter. Moreover,a good health and educational facilities need to be made available in every district.
But focus on the development of rural area only will not solve the problem.Strict migration laws should be made.Judicial action need to be taken against illegal residents.
Nevertheless, according to my opinion,we all need to understand that we should not burden our cities anymore and start working at various levels to save them from overcrowding.
