In terms of decline in number of imprisonments, Canada is the major contributor because of 120 thousand imprisonments in 1930 to 90 thousand in 1980.
Number of imprisonments in Australia showed mixed trend before decreasing to 50 thousand. New Zealand’s imprisonments were largest in 1930 at 100 thousand and lowest in 1950 at 50 thousand.
