Internet crime is increasing rapidly as growing numbers of people purchase goods over the internet. What can be done to tackle this problem?
With every passing day, the acceptability and popularity of online shopping are increasing. Over the last decade, there has been a proliferation in online sales as people find it very convenient to buy through internet. This trend has come with its drawbacks. There has been an upsurge in the credit card frauds and misuse of confidential information on the internet. These crimes have escalated due to myriad reasons. Firstly, authorities and governments have shown apathy towards the implementation of online shopping laws. Secondly, online buyers are not abreast of their rights and they have not been properly educated on who to trust and who not to trust. I am not saying that we should be skeptical of the entire notion of online shopping, but it would be judicious to meticulously research about the seller from whom we are acquiring the products and services.
